Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@enoriverfamilywellness.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a membership-based healthcare model where you pay your primary care provider directly through a monthly fee—similar to a gym membership. This removes insurance companies from the equation for primary care, eliminating copays, deductibles, and surprise bills. It allows your provider to spend more time with you and be more accessible.

No. DPC is not insurance—it's your primary care coverage. You still need insurance (or a health sharing plan) for major medical expenses like hospitalizations, surgeries, specialist care, and catastrophic events.

Think of it this way: DPC covers your day-to-day health needs. Insurance covers the big, unexpected stuff.

Because together, they're often more affordable than traditional insurance alone. Many DPC patients pair their membership with a high-deductible health plan (which has much lower premiums) since they're now using insurance only for major medical needs. You end up saving money while getting better access to your primary care provider.

Yes! Most HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) plans cover DPC memberships. Check with your specific plan administrator to confirm.

Your membership includes:

  • Unlimited office visits (no copays, ever)
  • Same- or next-day appointments
  • Comprehensive annual wellness exams (90 minutes)
  • Acute/sick visits
  • Chronic disease management
  • Minor in-office procedures
  • Virtual care (text, phone, video)
  • Care coordination
  • *annual lab work

Additional labs, imaging (X-rays, MRIs, etc.), medications, hospitalizations, emergency room visits, and specialist care are not included in your membership. However, we help you access these services at the most affordable rates and coordinate all your care.

Let's do the math:

Traditional insurance approach:

  • Monthly premium: $400-800+
  • Copay per visit: $25-50
  • Deductible: $1,500-6,000+
  • Wait time: 2-4 weeks for appointments

DPC approach:

  • Monthly membership: $50-100
  • High-deductible insurance: $150-300
  • Copay per visit: $0
  • Wait time: Same or next day

Many families save money while getting significantly better care.

We understand. Some patients choose to have DPC coverage without traditional insurance, especially if they're young and healthy. While we don't recommend going completely uninsured, we want you to have access to quality primary care regardless. Let's talk about your specific situation.

Yes. There are no long-term contracts. We ask for 30 days' notice if you decide to leave, but you're free to cancel your membership at any time.

We'll coordinate your referral, help you find high-quality specialists, and stay involved in your care. We communicate directly with your specialists to ensure everyone's on the same page about your treatment plan.

Call 911 or go to the emergency room—always. DPC doesn't replace emergency care. However, many situations that people think require the ER can actually be handled same-day in our office, saving you time and money.

Young and healthy is the perfect time to establish a relationship with a primary care provider. Prevention is easier than treatment. Having a PCP who knows you means:

  • Someone to call when you get sick (instead of urgent care roulette)
  • Baseline health data for comparison as you age
  • Someone to talk to about staying healthy
  • Mental health support
  • A trusted advisor for life's health questions

Plus, at $50-80/month, it's often less than people spend on subscriptions they rarely use.

Even with great insurance, you're likely still facing:

  • Copays for every visit
  • Long wait times for appointments
  • Rushed visits
  • Limited access to your doctor
  • Surprise bills

DPC enhances your insurance by handling all your primary care needs with zero copays and immediate access. You keep your insurance for the big stuff and use DPC for everything else.
